In reference to paragraph (b) of your serpfully noted. sommmication reading as follows1–
"that the records and furniture of the German Consulate will be placed at your disposal, if you are prepared to find some other storage place for them. Otherwise they will be stored in the Kowloon
Godowns"
this office is somewhat in doubt as to its exact meaning. Referring to my communication of May 27, 1916, it was requested that permission be granted to forward all the German Consular records and furniture to Shanghai, but as the paragraph indiested in your despatch did not specifically state this, the writer would be pleased to be advised whether or not such authorisation can be granted by the Hongkong government -
